This week across the photography industry, and within our own Shoot & Share community, we've heard story after story of sessions being cancelled, weddings being postponed or called off, and photographers unable to attend scheduled events due to the impact of COVID-19.

As photographers ourselves, we know that the uncertainty of what those cancellations and postponements mean for small business owners can feel daunting. Being consistent and creative in how you show up is more important than ever, and with many of us working from home right now it's a great time to update your business processes & practices, freshen up your social presence and make sure that business is ready to rock when sessions start up again!

Here's 7 quick things you can do this week to help your business:

  • Show Up

Be visible in your business. Post regularly to social media, share helpful content, show behind the scenes of what you're working on. Show up often so that all of the hard work you've done isn't forgotten and you stay top of mind for your clients!
  • Update Your Online Presence

Update your website, freshen up your headshots, schedule out your social media accounts and catch up on all those blog posts. Take advantage of the slow down in sessions to make sure that your business is running smoothly when things pick up again.
  • Stay in Touch

Your client's are going through a lot right now too. Reach out to them just to check in, say hello, send them a special offer, and talk about fun things that are coming up this summer & fall! A simple text or better yet a personal video message so that they can see your smiling face will go a long way in connecting personally with your clients.
  • Work On Your Workflow

Go through your workflows & simplify your processes. Re-visit contracts, change out images and update information on any forms & questionnaires that you send out and make sure that your client experience is personal start to finish.

  • Visit With Vendors

Wedding venues, florists, bakeries, hair and make up artists and more are feeling the strain of cancellations too. Check in with the vendors you often work with and offer to help them stay visible too. Send them images that you've taken of their location or work to use on their website, create a Vivi video that they can share on social media.

  • Sell Albums & Prints

Our clients aren't able to be with family and friends right now. That means grandparent visits aren't happening, babies are being born without visitors to greet them and even small elopements are happening without family and friends to witness them. Whether it's images that you've previously taken or those that a client snapped, offer to put them into a gallery they can share, a video they can send to family or prints that they can have delivered.!!
  • Find Your Tribe

Whether it's online or in a local group, find a safe space to share ideas, ask questions and connect with fellow photographers. We'd love for you to join us in the Shoot & Share Community to do just that. With over 50,000 photographers from around the world, it's an incredible place to find education, inspiration & connect.

Want even more ways to keep your business moving forward right now? Join us for Cameras + Community in the Shoot and Share Facebook community to chat with fellow photographers, brainstorm ideas and find friendship in the midst of challenging time.
